Raisins

Raisins are a form of Dry grapes. There are mainly two types of raisins, the black and the golden raisins (also called as Sultanas) which get their names from the color and quality of grapes- Black grapes and the green yellow grapes. There are also a form of dried grapes called as Currants which are the dried form of small sized grapes. The raisins are the sweetest among all.

  • They undergo sweet taste after digestion

  • Raisins are Pitta pacifying
  • They also help balance the vitiated Vata dosha

  • Raisins can act spontaneously on excessive thirst, burning sensation, help calm down the fever
  • They are beneficial for respiratory disorders like asthma, difficulty in breathing
  • They are beneficial for any kind of bleeding disorders
  • They provide nourishment to the body tissues
  • Raisins also have aphrodisiac properties
  • Raisins are beneficial for people with urinary tract infections
  • They prove very useful for regaining strength and work well in muscle weakness

Remedy for Constipation

 

Ingredients:
  1. 4-5 raisins
  2. 1 cup of warm water
  3. 2-3 almonds
Recipe:
  1. Soak the almonds and the raisins separately in the warm water overnight
  2. In the morning peel the almonds
  3. Consume the peeled almonds and soaked raisins first thing in the morning.

This recipe supports healthy bowel habits.
